About Us
Chadron is a friendly community and home to Chadron State College with a population of approximately 5,851. What began in 1885 as a few wooden shacks and dirt roads has evolved into a 21st Century economic leader in the Nebraska Panhandle. We boast one of the three state colleges, beautiful city parks, a recently designated Commercial Historic District, four public schools (one primary, one intermediate, one middle and one high school), modern medical facilities, great housing opportunities and low taxes. We also have Chadron Municipal Airport, which serves Southern Airines/iflysouthern, direct flights to and from Denver, Colorado.
Recreational opportunities are varied and unique, and the climate is generally moderate. Visitors are always welcome, we have a beautiful 4 season year and a great community. A hidden gem in the Northwest Nebraska Panhandle, The gateway to the Black Hills.
Chadron City Public Transportation Bus operates with two part-time drivers operating Monday through Friday 8 am - 4 pm. The bus is a 12-passenger bus with a wheel chair lift. Make sure to contact 308-432-0520 to Hitch A Ride! Locals and Guests alike are welcome.
